TPA started as a passenger charter operation primarily for sightseeing, fishing and sporting event groups. They made an application to operate scheduled cargo service between China-Hawaii-California but that was rejected. They did receive scheduled territorial carrrier certification in 1949 to operated Inter Island service in Honolulu. In 1950 the airline adopted the name TPA-The Aloha Airline and in November, 1958 again changed its name to Aloha Airlines (see).
